uomotoo is Philip Rae. I am an affiliate and frequent collaborator of uomostudio, a graphic design studio based out of Toronto, Canada.

An award winning designer, and musician, my talents also include knowing obscure facts and stories about hip hop artists (mostly from the genres golden era); knowing Apple’s release schedules and selling my computers and devices in time for refreshes (already sold for the iPhone 4S launch); and having a very acute knowledge of Sharks, even though they are my greatest fear. I am a former graffiti writer that only tagged. Doing so has made me very aware of typography, which is a good thing because I would have had to work a lot harder if I got accepted into industrial design at university.

I have had the unique experience of being signed to a major recording label which took me around the world. I ran my own design studio during my last year of school, which contributed to me winning the gold medal award for graphic design. During my graduate showcase I was headhunted to work at Corus Entertainment, one of Canada’s largest entertainment companies as a motion artist and designer. That opportunity led me to CTV, another media conglomerate, where the excitement of being full-time motion graphic designer led me to the greener pastures of New York City and into the loving and comforting folds of a little design/web tech up-start called Animoto.

I continue to make designed things move on screen and I draw pictures all day.
